We Are Autism (WAA) was born from lived experience and a deep understanding of what families need beyond therapy services.
Growing up in Jamaica, developmental disabilities were rarely discussed or understood. Years later, as a mother of a blended family, that reality became personal when my youngest son, Marcus, was diagnosed with autism and hyperlexia. Like many parents, I quickly learned that while services are important, much of the real work happens at home—during everyday moments when guidance and support are often limited.
Determined to better support my son, I immersed myself in learning, advocacy, and parent education. I enrolled in formal training, sought out resources, and created the children’s book Marcus Good Boy to help family, friends, and communities better understand autism through a compassionate lens.
Today, We Are Autism exists to support parents and caregivers during the hours when therapy ends—but parenting continues. Our focus is on education, practical understanding, and community connection so families feel informed, confident, and supported as they navigate life with autism.
Our goal is simple: to walk alongside families, provide clarity where there is confusion, and build a community where caregivers know they are not alone.
Our vision is to empower parents and caregivers with the knowledge, confidence, and support they need during the moments that matter most—everyday life at home.
We envision a community where families feel informed and equipped to support their child beyond therapy services, where questions are welcomed, and where caregivers are not navigating autism alone. Through education, connection, and shared understanding, We Are Autism strives to help parents feel confident advocating for their child and supporting their growth in real-life settings.
Because when therapy ends, parenting continues.

Our mission is to support parents and caregivers of children on the autism spectrum by providing education, practical understanding, and community connection—especially during the hours when professional services are not present.
We Are Autism exists to bridge the gap between therapy and home life, helping families feel informed, confident, and supported as they navigate everyday challenges and successes together.
We Are Autism was formally recognized by the City of Westfield for its commitment to supporting children and families and advocating for individuals with disabilities. This recognition affirms the importance of parent education, community connection, and supporting families beyond formal services.
We remain dedicated to serving parents and caregivers with clarity, compassion, and practical support as they navigate life with autism.
